you're fired!
At 1:00, everyone in my section of the office disappeared for a mandatory meeting.
They returned about an hour later. And they were all fired. Well, "laid off" is the technical term. But really, they were fired. They have to be out of the office by next week.
Everyone was trying really hard to be positive about it, which is admirable. But they aren't very good actors. The guy in the cube next me shrugged and said that, "that's life." But he looked like he was going to cry and he kept saying, "I want a beer."
I think they were all more upset than they let on.
