no respect for the dead

Renowned media theorist and cultural critic Neil Postman was appalled at the growing epistemological emphasis that American society places on the medium of television.

Lucky for us Neil Postman is dead, so there's no need to feel guilty when you find yourself tuning in to MTV True Life twice a day then pausing only for a water break before settling in for an hour of Juvies.

But don't think that I'll be wasting my entire Sunday-- there will be plenty of time to write an eloquent and persuasive 1500-word essay on Postman's media theories during commercial breaks.
