where there's smoke

There's a very logical saying that goes, "Where there's smoke, there's fire."

So when my roommates and I saw smoke pouring out of the window of an apartment across the street for a prolonged period of time, we thought, "Fire?"

We called up the non-emergency police. Note: NON-EMERGENCY. But they misinterpreted our concerned-citizen phonecall as witnessing-a-blazing-inferno phonecall.

They sent out three fire trucks, as well as a few squad cars to block traffic from entering the street.

Needless to say, it was pretty embarrassing when it turned out there was no fire.

Oops. Ok, well.

Next entry: better.
